As I set here with my coffee on Saturday morning, I wonder at how ignorant I was when I was in my teens and early 20’s. I had a wealth of experience in my family to draw from, but I knew everything and didn’t need advice! I could have avoided hundreds of mistakes I made, large and small, if I had sought my elder’s advice. They had been through all of what I went through, knew the pitfalls and shortcuts, but I chose my own bumbling path. But then, so did they.
Youth is truly wasted on the young, or at least all that youthful energy 🙂 We truly do not see our elderly folks for what they truly are: a wealth of knowledge and experience that is truly our greatest natural resource.
I leave you with a quote from Wiilie Nelson:
” Age, experience, and treachery will beat youth and enthusiasm every time” 🙂
