faceless male traveler in inflatable ring on ocean admiring sunset

I have often heard it said, “We are all in the same boat”. No, we’re not, we’re all adrift in the same ocean, but some of us are on luxury liners, some are on gigantic yachts, and some are on small skiffs, and some have no boat at all and must constantly tread water.

To me, the Christmas spirit is helping those in the small boats, and the ones with no boat at all to weather the storm. If we do this not expecting anything, including recognition for it, we feel the true spirit of Christmas; the birthday of Jesus Christ.

We are all truly in the same ocean, facing the same storms that life throws at us, and some are fortunate enough to endure them better. If nothing else, it is a moral, empathic, compassionate imperative to help when and how we can. And my friends, it doesn’t end on December 26th.

Merry Christmas and God bless….
